TOOWOOMBA SPEEDWAY: PAUL MORRIS TO CONTEST THE QLD V8 DIRT MODIFIED TITLE FEBRUARY 8

Confirmation this week confirms Paul Morris will contest the 2025 Queensland V8 Dirt Modified Championship at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec-Oils Speedway, Saturday February 8.

Although no stranger to Speedway, he has raced a Sprintcar competitively, his son Nash is driving a Sprintcar this season. “It was Phil Roberts who introduced me to V8 Dirt Modifieds,” Morris said. “I liked it so I bought my own. I really enjoyed driving the car and the V8 Dirt Modified community are a good bunch of racers so I thought I would dive in and buy one.  There are some good people in Speedway and it’s fun to be a part of it. When asked what he liked about driving a V8 Dirt Modified he replied “The power, it’s good enough to get you thinking but won’t frighten you like a Sprintcar does.”

The excitement begins to build over the next week as Darling Downs Fabricating presents the state title for V8 Dirt Modifieds. This comes at a time when drivers and teams also begin their preparation for the 2025 Australian Championship to be held at Premier Speedway Warrnambool on February 21 and 22.

Given this, it’s sure to bring huge numbers and a quality field as they look towards their National Championship two weeks later.

Leading the field is the defending Queensland Champion David Clark who also is the current NSW and Victorian State Champion. The two-time and current Australian number one is under no illusion as to just how hard Saturday night is going to be with the depth of talent travelling to Toowoomba.

He has definitely been in top form this season thus far. With the defence of his Queensland and Australian Championship on the line and five-time National Champion Kevin Britten having the same thoughts, the on-track rivalry between the two will be intense. Add four-time National Champion Mark Robinson into the mix and we will surely have a race on our hands – a Queensland Championship to remember. Other top contenders who could make life difficult for those three come Saturday night include Andrew Pezzutti who is certainly going to be one to watch. Mitch Randall, Scott Cannon and Pezzutti are all former National Champions who know their way around Toowoomba’s hi banks as does Toowoomba’s Ray Klarich.   

As part of another Saturday evening packed with the best Speedway action around, the support program caters for all tastes of Australian Speedway featuring six different Speedway divisions to add to the night’s racing.  Late Models return to Toowoomba’s for the Tango in Toowoomba while the Production Sedans line up for  Moore Trailers Champions Series, powered by Steering and  Suspension Warehouse, Grand Final.

Street Stocks are back for round four of the Engage Ag Ironman Series. There’s Formula 500 Junior and Seniors High Banks Shootout presented by GSA Advanced Machining and Aero6Four Racing Products, along with Compact Speedcars to add a touch of flavour. A good addition to a first class support program.
