FIM SPEEDWAY: “HUNGRY” DOYLE READY FOR ACTION
Aussie international Jason Doyle declared “I feel hungry to ride” as he makes his return to the shale in the spring.
The 2017 Speedway GP World Champion’s 2024 season was ended by a torn rotator cuff suffered when he crashed in a Rowe Motor Oil Premiership match for Ipswich at King’s Lynn last May.
Visiting Polish club Czestochowa for the team’s pre-season presentation, the Newcastle-born racer gave fans a positive update on his condition.
He told Przeglad Sportowy: “My health is fine now. I don’t feel any discomfort and I’m preparing for the season normally. I feel hungry to ride and I can’t wait for the start of the competition.”
Doyle also can’t wait to get started with Czestochowa after making the switch from Grudziadz over the winter. He is joined in the side by the likes of Polish stars Kacper Woryna and Piotr Pawlicki, Swedish racer Philip Hellstrom-Bangs and Denmark’s Mads Hansen.
He is backing the team to surprise in 2025. He said: “I know the guys from Włókniarz, and I know what they can do. This is a team with potential and I hope that we will surprise the experts by finishing the regular round in the top four, which will allow us to advance to the play-off phase.”
After racing to his first Speedway GP victory since 2017 in Warsaw last year, Doyle found himself top of the standings.
While his crash denied him the chance to battle the likes of Bartosz Zmarzlik for the world title, Doyle remains hungry to claim his second gold medal. He said: “That’s why I race in the series, to be at the top again. I’m not interested in being an extra. I want to win.”
