KINGSHOTT WINS AT ELLENBROOK
MADDINGTON TOYOTA SPRINTCAR SERIES
MONDAY, MARCH 3
Dayne Kingshott stamped his authority on the 2024-25 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series championship with a solid win in round 19 at Ellenbrook Speedway on Sunday evening, March 2.
The defending series champion won the twilight show under very warm conditions from arch rival Callum Williamson and Daniel Harding.
Heading into the fourth last round of the season, Kingshott had a 58 point lead over Williamson – and he has increased that by another four points as the series heads back to the Perth Motorplex next Saturday night.
Kingshott started from p2 in the final, alongside Kaiden Manders who set the early pace but headed to the work area to change a tyre after 10 laps were in the books, handing the lead to Kingshott over Harding, Taylor Milling and Williamson.
The next lap Jason Pryde, who was in fifth, spun, triggering another caution.
Williamson managed to pass Kingshott momentarily for the lead at one point, only for the caution lights to come on.
There were some great battles in the pack on what many drivers described as a ‘technical’ track.
Milling was looking solid for another top five until a big clump of mud jammed into the front of the car late in the race and he parked the 25 up on the turns 1-2 fence.
Kingshott’s win was on the back of a fifth in his heat race and a win in the B Dash.
Williamson was fourth in his heat race and fifth in the A Dash, seeing him start from p9.
Harding’s top three result was welcomed after what had been a promising, yet torrid time in the Trevor Jolly Racing W18.
He was seventh in his heat race and took second in the B Dash to start from p4.
Jason Kendrick had his best result of the season, for fourth, after starting from p11.
He was locked into some great duels in the pack, particularly with Ryan Lancaster and Andrew Priolo.
Lancaster, who started from p7, was fifth – the second top five in a row for the Dingo De Motorsport W44.
Priolo took sixth after starting from p17, winning him the Kincrome Hard Charger award.
This was a big turnaround after posting a DNF in his heat race and being at the back in the Midpack race.
Manders recovered well to take seventh and salvage some good points for the J&S Racing W60.
Jaydee Dack was eighth after starting from p13 – a good recovery in what started out badly – rolling the car in hot laps, before a side panel of the wing peeled off in his qualifying lap.
Kris Coyle was ninth after starting from p5, ahead of AJ Nash in 10th, after starting from p12.
They were followed over the line by Daniel Hartigan, Pryde, Aaron Chircop, Jack Williamson and Brooke Newson (who recovered after climbing the fence in a Midpack race).
The next round of the series will be the TD Granny Flats Silver Cup at the Perth Motorplex next Saturday night, March 8.
It will be the second of the four-round Maddington Toyota Four Crown mini-series that rounds out the 2024-25 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series.
The top pointscorer from the Four Crown will receive a bonus $3000, with $2000 to second overall and $1000 to third overall.
This is on top of the overall series champion winning $25,000, which will be presented at the awards night on
