McFADDEN HEADS TO TOOWOOMBA
Confirmation has been received Australian Sprintcar Champion James McFadden is coming to Hi-Tec-Oils Toowoomba Speedway this Friday and Saturday night (April 11 and 12) for the NuTrend Quality Homes Red Hot Summer Shootout.
Earlier this year McFadden won the Warrnambool Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and he will certainly be a crowd favourite over the weekend at Toowoomba.
It’s going to be an action packed weekend with the best drivers and teams from all over Australia.
There’s something for everyone as over 40 Sprintcars have already nominated featuring the best Australia (such as Jock Goodyer) has to offer supported with Late Models and Modified Sedans.
Goodyer will be back to try and get his hands on the winner’s cheque and the Barry Waldron Perpetual Trophy once again, as will Lockie McHugh and Luke Oldfield. This is shaping up to be the biggest weekend of the season and that’s just Sprintcars.
West Australian Jack Williamson will drive Tullboro Motorsport Sprintcar in this prestigious event that is seriously attracting drivers from around the country and is shaping up to be one of our biggest Sprintcar events Toowoomba has ever seen. Marcus and Matthew Dumesny make a welcome return to Toowoomba and are sure to be on the pace from the start. There’s over $90,000 in prize money including $20,000 to win and $1,500 to start the main event. Canberra’s Michael Stewart has won six feature races this season and is a confirmed starter and always a crowd pleaser. There’s no question that this could be one of the best line-ups we’ve ever had at Hi-Tec -Oils Toowoomba Speedway if you include
Brock Hallett, Jamie Veal and Callum Williamson. Williamson is heading our way to join Ryan Newton Racing and the NuTrend Quality Homes Sprintcar team.
Friday night (April 11) doubles as the Grand Final of the Queensland Speedway Spares Ultimate Sprintcar Championship.
As a fantastic extra after time trials, there will be an eight car – eight lap dash which pays out $3,500 in prize money. Glenno Inglis from Sprint Shack came up with this brilliant concept to support the drivers who turn up and support the venue week in, week out. These eight drivers have qualified for the Sprint Shack Lucky Dog Dash. Callum Walker, Kaydon Iverson, Nic Whell, Dylan Menz, Cody O’Connell, Richard Morgan, Jayden Peacock, Tim Farrell,Toowoomba’s Charlie Bowen is 1st reserve and Anthony Lambert 2nd reserve.
The above 10 drivers are amongst the top 10 in the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship standings and haven’t had a podium at a USC round this season. Tarhlea Apelt is in her best season yet, showing pace every night and with recent consistency and top 10 finishes will certainly be one of the Toowoomba drivers to watch over the weekend.
There is also the Late Model Queensland Championship with Tasmanian Ellis Dickenson making the long haul to Toowoomba this weekend, along with New South Welshman Todd Bayley, and if you add Mitchell Gee into the equation you know you are in for a real treat. Gee is not afraid to run the highline. Modified Sedans are also well known for close and exciting racing. The nomination list this weekend is impressive, with the who’s who in Modified Sedans are coming to Toowoomba in an action a plenty affair not to be missed and if you include Wingless Sprintcars on Friday night, speedway fans are in for a real treat.
The Grand Final of the Toowoomba Steering and Suspension Modified Sedan Smackdown Series will be held on Friday night. Max Clarke is leading the Series heading into the Grand Final on 645 Points. Given this event is the weekend before their Australian Title over Easter it’s sure to attract huge numbers in a final test and tune before heading off to Mildura.
Nathan MacDonald sits comfortable in second on 606 points while Aidan Raymont is next on 590 points. All of this plus the Late Model Queensland Title and you will have a night to remember at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec-Oils Toowoomba Speedway.
As you can imagine ticket sales have broken previous numbers. Thousands of tickets have already been sold to see arguably the greatest line up of Australian drivers and teams in three different divisions of Australian Speedway over two nights of competition – truly the greatest lineup of talent ever seen in Toowoomba.
