FIM SPEEDWAY: RISS IS SGP WILD CARD, MAY 3, AT LANDSHUT
Germany and Landshut star Erik Riss will represent the host club when he lines up as wild card in the 2025 FIM Speedway Grand Prix season-opening WWK FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut on May 3.
Riss made his SGP debut in the 2024 FIM German Speedway GP as a track reserve, replacing Jan Kvech for his final ride.
But the in-form two-time FIM Long Track World Championship winner is guaranteed at least five rides against the sport’s top riders as he joins Germany’s full-time SGP star Kai Huckenbeck in flying the home flag.
Son of record eight-time FIM Long Track world champion Gerd Riss, Erik Riss races for Landshut in Poland’s National Speedway League, in which he is fifth in the average charts on 2.200 points per race.
The German international has also brought his fine 2025 form to British club Oxford Spires in the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership, as well as Redcar Bears in the Cab Direct Championship.
Riss is joined in the WWK FIM German Speedway GP line-up by track reserves Kevin Wolbert and Valentin Grobauer, who wear the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively. They also compete for Landshut in the Polish league.
