AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY CENTENARY: JOHN TITMAN TO BE FEATURED IN THE CAVALCADE OF LEGENDS
One of Queensland’s greatest ever international speedway riders, John Titman, will be honoured at the upcoming Australian Speedway Centenary, being conducted at North Brisbane Speedway, on December 28 and 29.
The 1977 Australian Champion and seven times Queensland Champion, will appear in a glittering Cavalcade of Legends parade, on night two, as a major part of the Ikon Suspension 500cc Solo Centurion Classic.
Night one (December 28); will feature a similar Legends Parade for the nation’s speedway sidecar icons.
John Titman, a household name in Queensland speedway racing, also won the Australian Best Pairs Championship in 1986 and rode in two Speedway World Finals, in 1978 and 1979.
Titman, now 72 years of age, was also an outstanding Longtrack rider, thus appearing in two World Speedway Longtrack Championship Finals, in 1983 and 1984.
The Brisbane born legend captained Australia in numerous international Test Matches and was aptly inducted into the Australian Speedway Hall of Fame in 2022.
John’s career debut was at the hallowed Brisbane Exhibition Ground in April of 1968. His career, in British League racing, commenced in 1972 when he was signed by the Halifax Dukes, before going on to race for Exeter, Leicester, Hackney and Wimbledon.
John Titman is a welcome addition to the Cavalcade of Legends being staged at the Australian Speedway Centenary.
