HARRIS SAYS HE’S A PROUD TIGERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER

GLASGOW No.1 Chris Harris has spoken of his pride of leading the Tigers to the Cab Direct Championship title.
Harris delivered two outstanding displays in the Grand Final against Poole this week as the Ashfield side banished the memories of recent defeats at the last hurdle.

And Harris himself was delighted to achieve the ambition he set out when he joined the Tigers last winter for a second spell with the club. He said: “It’s a very special feeling, to win it at Poole is also an incredible feat. They’ve won so many trophies.
“It’s been fantastic working with these guys all season. I can’t speak more highly of this bunch of lads.
“Everyone chipped in all season to make this possible including the likes of Marcin Nowak and Claus Vissing who weren’t here tonight. “I said from the start of the season that I owed Glasgow a big season after the disappointment of 2018. I hope I’ve managed to do that.”

SCUNTHORPE have taken an early decision to re-arrange the first leg of the Championship KO Cup Final for Sunday afternoon (3pm).
The Scorpions were due to meet Poole at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday but a poor weather forecast has led to the clubs agreeing the revised date.

Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The forecast is very heavy rain – it’s one of the worst forecasts I’ve seen. There’s a possibility that it may have cleared by the evening, but the damage will be done by then – there will be no time to prepare a raceable or rideable track.

“We want the Cup Final to be a good experience for everyone. The forecast is good for both Saturday and Sunday. We’d spoken to the Poole promotion about the possibility, because the weather for Friday has looked awful all week, and they agreed to a switch to Sunday if we needed it.
“We also wanted to give supporters plenty of notice of the new date. We want it to be a fantastic Cup Final.”

THE line-up has been confirmed for the re-staging of the National Development League Riders’ Championship at Workington on Sunday (2pm). Each of the NDL clubs will have two representatives in the meeting, which was originally due to take place last month before the weather intervened.

Former champions Ben Morley (2015/18) and Max Clegg (2016) are in the line-up, whilst current British Under-21 Champion Connor Bailey represents the hosts at Northside along with Sam McGurk.
