One of the people who will attend the Bob Tattersall Memorial Dinner at Sydney’s Royal Automobile of Australia, 6pm Friday, October 27, is American Jim Ligori.
Jim is the nephew of the late, great man from Streator, Illinois.
He has flown from the American Midwest especially to honour his champion Speedcar racing uncle.
He will be impressed to see the great Sydney Showground race footage of Bob that will be screened.
It’s a very special part of the night, as will be a racing memorabilia auction that anyone who wants to donate caps, jackets, T-shirts, books etc., can do so before Friday October 27.
The find raising evening is for Dee Tattersall who lost most of Bob’s racing memorabilia in a house fire.
Since arriving in Sydney on Monday morning, Jim (pictured) has taken the opportunity to visit the Sydney home of former two times NSW Sprintcar Champion Bob Blacklaw who is the proud owner of the Mike Cascio Offenhauser that Bob Tattersall drove during his 1961-62 Australian tour.
Jim also visited Gordon Benny’s Sydney residence to inspect the beautifully restored Tony Saylor Offy that was driven by Tattersall on his inaugural Australian tour in 1960.
A feature of the RACA fund raising night will be a pre-recorded message from Dee Tattersall welcoming everyone to the evening – which carries incredible significance as it represents 52 years to the day Bob Tattersall died of cancer aged just 47.
FOR MORE INFORMATION on ticketing, phone Edwina at RACA (02) 8273-2300 (business hours).
DRESS CODE SMART CASUAL. Evening presentation commences 6PM.
