Supercars star Cameron Waters is gaining momentum in the cutthroat world of speedway Sprintcar racing, after labelling his New Year’s Day fourth placing at Warrnambool as his “most satisfying run yet.”
“The level of competition was so high, so to run fourth with the best racers in Australia and the Americans as well was fantastic.”
Coming off an intense week of four events in six days across South Australia and Victoria, Waters was rapt to finish on a high before heading to the high banks of Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway this weekend.
“We had a good night at Simpson, then struggled at Mount Gambier and Avalon, so to bounce back at Warrnambool was great, so now we can carry some momentum into Toowoomba this weekend where it’s a high-speed track.”
“It will be the first time I’ve been to Toowoomba Speedway since the early 2000s when I was watching my dad race in the Modified Production Sedan Australian Title. I was probably only about 8 years old at the time, but from what I’ve seen on ClayPerView, it’s changed a lot since then and it’s a really racey track so I’m really looking forward to it.”
The three night NuTrend Homes Red Hot Summer Shootout offers $100,000 in prize money, including $30,000 to win the Sunday night final.
Six Americans including Sheldon Haudenschild and former Toowoomba winning Texan Aaron Reutzel will be a part of record setting sixty car entry list, with Sprintcars on track from 5:15pm each night.
