Sprintcars Australia media release
The 57 strong entry list for this weekend’s Australian Pro Sprintcar Championship, presented by Dirt X Ind at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway, includes multiple State Champions and blue-ribbon race winners, but more importantly it contains five previous Australian 360 / Pro Sprintcar Champions.
The list obviously features current titleholder Mark Caruso (2023), but Ryan Jones (2008, 2009, 2011,2012), Brett Milburn (2020), Jamie Veal (2017) and Robbie Farr (2013) will also be present in the star-studded field.
Brett Milburn is the most recent winner of the previous Champions, when he took title honours at Simpson Speedway in 2020 driving the #VA29, but this year he will contest the national title in his own #V68 entry at his favourite venue.
“Well, Avalon is my home track and if it gets two grooves it should be a cracker title. As for the competition with the likes of Veal, Goodyer, Lee, Caruso, Hickman etc it is going to be one great field. We have had a few second places at Avalon this season so I would love to go one better. To win any national crown is a dream, to win any series, any race is awesome, but to get an A1 is what every driver wants, and they aren’t easy to get,” added Milburn recently when we spoke.
Four-time Champion Ryan Jones had a similar view when it comes to the Australian Championship.
“Avalon is a unique racetrack and I’m sure whoever wins will be deserving given the depth of car count and talented Sprintcar drivers. We are looking forward to running the heavy Chevy this weekend,” added Ryan.
Warrnambool’s Jamie Veal will be chasing his second Australian Pro Sprintcar Championship utilising his own equipment this weekend, having won his prior 360ci / Pro Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex driving for Luch Monte, while Robbie Farr will drive the Matt Eastham owned #V88.
The 2024 Australian Pro Sprintcar Championship, presented by DIRT X IND Motorsports at Avalon Raceway, commences on Friday, April 12 before the Championship finale on Saturday night, April 13.
