TOOWOOMBA’S UPCOMING FOUR FIXTURES BEFORE SEASON CLOSES
With the Toowoomba Speedway season now starting to wind down, this coming Saturday night April13 will see the first of the last four nights for the 2023-24 summer term.
The remaining three nights of the season will see the Cush Clothing Queensland Late Model Championship on Wednesday night April 24 and the Hanceys Turf Australian title two nights later on April 26th and 27th.
This coming weekend will be one not to miss when Sprintcars, Super Sedans and Speedcars are back for the Sedl Earthmoving Pty. Ltd Ultimate Grand Finals.
The Queensland Speedway Spares Ultimate Championship for Sprintcars, Super Sedans and the GSA Advanced Machining Ultimate Speedcar Championship. Plus a massive fireworks display.
So far, 40 Sprintcars have already nominated which includes Lockie McHugh the current Australian and NSW Champion for the grand final which pays $5,000 to win the feature.
McHugh returns to HI-Tec-Oils Speedway for the first time as the new Aussie Champ, becoming the first Queenslander to win the National Championship outside of Queensland and making history becoming the third Queenslander to do so after Todd Wanless was the first in 1996 and Andrew Scheuerle in 2019 both won in Brisbane.
The points in the Championship are close which will make for some competitive racing. McHugh sits on top of the points race on 466, Luke Oldfield on 434, Canberra’s Michael Stewart on 428 and Toowoomba’s Nick Whell in fourth on 406.
There is a high quality field set to arrive in Toowoomba on Saturday night the ever popular Jy Corbet fresh from a win in Sydney recently. Add Toowoomba’s Tarhlea Apelt who is in good form having her first Sprintcar win in the C Dash in Gladstone last weekend. Cody Maroske is also on the list this weekend while Harry Stewart will be on double duty, driving both the Sprintcar and Speedcar after winning the Speedcar feature in Gladstone last weekend Stewart has shown in the last few races he is ready and willing to mix it with the best.
If you add Randy Morgan, Jaydon Peacock and Cody O’Connell to the mix and you have a great mix of talent that will undoubtedly put on a show in their last appearance in Toowoomba this season.
Sydney’s Jessie Attard and Micheal Sellar will also make the drive to Toowoomba this weekend as will Michael Stewart.
Super Sedans have been brilliant to watch on the high banks of Hi-Tec-Oils Toowoomba Speedway this season the Ultimate Grand Final which will double as Round 12 of the 2023/24 McCosker Super Sedan Series will be exceptionable as drivers chase valuable series points for the last time at Toowoomba this season. Once again the Afco Shock Doctor Roll-a-Dice Dash is back. Hayden Brims and JJ Hamilton are tied on 443 points which will result in some close racing when those two young guns get together on Saturday night. Darren Kane is just 9 points behind on 434.
An impressive 22 car field will be headlined by Australian Champion Darren Kane, Queensland titleholder Brad Pascoe makes a welcome return to Toowoomba where he won his first Queensland Title. Pascoe will be joined by Toowoomba’s Sean Black, Bob McCosker and Tania Smith in a field that is packed with emerging talent which include Zac Brims and Zac Pascoe
Tasmanian David Nichols is back on Toowoomba’s high banks as is Matt Williams and former Australian Champion Trent Wilson.
Speedcars return for the Grand Final of the GSA Advanced Machining Ultimate Speedcar Championship with another $3,000 winner’s prize up for grabs. Massive thanks to GSA Advanced Machining and the Mental Switch for making this exciting series possible.
Troy Ware leads the series on 150 points from Scott Farmer on 146 and Dylan Menz sits on 144 in third and will not be competing this weekend due to injury. It leaves the door wide open for a very exciting night of Speedcar racing. We wish Dylan a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at Hi-Tec-Oils Speedway next season. If you include the experience of Michael Kendall, Nathan Smee and Kaidon Brown you really do have a race on your hands.
