SPEEDWAY MASTERS: PLAISTED AND EGAN ADDED TO STAR STUDDED SIDECAR FIELD

One of the nation’s most successful ever sidecar competitors, Justin Plaisted, has been signed to contest the Darrin Treloar Cup, being staged on night one (December 27) of the two-night International Speedway Masters at Gillman Speedway.

The South Australian legend, is aptly regarded as one of the sport’s all-time best dirt track exponents, having won every major event on offer, as both a rider and a passenger. In fact, Justin is one of only two competitors in history that has won the Australian Sidecar Championship, both as a rider and a passenger.

Plaisted and his highly talented passenger, Damien Egan, enter the ISM24 event as genuine contenders for outright honours -and their scintillating form, at the back end of last season, underlines their current speed and unwavering professional approach.

“I feel honoured to be able to race in the Darrin Treloar Cup as my respect for Darrin, as speedway sidecars racing’s greatest ever rider, is immeasurable,” Justin explained.

“Darrin and I teamed up in 2000 and went on a racing journey that covered the world. Our partnership produced many amazing times, countless race wins, and, on the downside, we also endured an accident which almost claimed his life.

“Through it all, we formed a very formidable team and developed true mateship.

“Darrin taught me a lot and I know I contributed a level of enthusiasm to our team that was unmatched. I’m truly grateful for the lessons and opportunities I was given racing with Darrin.

“These days I’m very fortunate to have an amazing team and many loyal supporters around me. I would like to thank my valued sponsors, all of whom are back on-board for the upcoming season,” Justin concluded.
