SURGERY FOR WOFFINDEN
Great Britain racer Tai Woffinden was set to undergo surgery on a broken elbow following his crash in the ISS FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow on Saturday.
The Scunthorpe-born racer crashed in heat eight as he battled Germany’s Kai Huckenbeck for the lead at Edward Jancarz Stadium.
Woffinden’s British club Sheffield updated fans on the triple Speedway GP World Champion’s condition via their official Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers confirmed: “Tai Woffinden sustained concussion following his crash in Saturday’s Grand Prix in Poland. Tai is also set to undergo an operation this afternoon on a broken elbow suffered in the same incident.”
The news comes as a blow to GB ahead of the FIM Speedway of Nations Final in Manchester on July 13, with the Lions seeded into the event as host nation, meeting the six qualifiers from the two Semi-Finals on July 9 and 10.
Woffinden missed the last FIM SON Final at Vojens in 2022 after suffering injuries in a training accident ahead of the meeting.
