SGP 2025 ROUND FOR MANCHESTER’S NATIONAL SPEEDWAY STADIUM
BELLE Vue CEO Mark Lemon is delighted to mark the tenth season of racing at the National Speedway Stadium with the venue’s first ever FIM Grand Prix.
The Manchester track is widely regarded as one of the finest in the sport, and it has hosted a succession of major international events since 2016.
Now it has joined the GP calendar for the first time with June 14, 2025 being the date for the big event – and the series will also visit Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on August 16.
Lemon said: “Ever since the National Speedway Stadium opened in 2016 it has produced some of the most spectacular racing in the world.
“That has prompted a constant narrative that an SGP round should be held in Manchester.
“From the outset we wanted to make it happen and I’m very pleased that it will come to fruition in our tenth year at the NSS.
“This is the SGP round that every fan wanted, in my mind it almost feels like it will be the people’s Grand Prix on the calendar.”

ROBERT Lambert has secured runners-up position in the FIM World Championship – with Dan Bewley making it two British riders in the top four overall.
Lambert missed out on reaching the semi-finals in Saturday’s final GP of the season in Torun, but he still had enough points to hold off Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren for silver, as the Swede finished fourth on the night and had to be content with bronze overall.
He said: “I don’t really feel like I got the job done at all after the performance that I put in. It was a very tough night.
“I couldn’t really get things going. But with my consistency throughout the season, I secured my silver medal. I am super proud and happy to be sitting here with a silver around my neck.”
It was also Bewley’s best-ever GP season, and third place in Torun was enough to elevate the Belle Vue star to fourth in the final standings.
With Lambert and Bewley having also won the FIM Speedway of Nations for GB earlier this summer, their next target is to challenge five-time World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik for the individual crown in 2025.
The Pole rounded off the GP campaign with another win in Torun ahead of Leon Madsen, Bewley and Lindgren.

SCUNTHORPE seek to build a lead as they host BSN Series holders Poole in the first leg of this season’s Final at the Eddie Wright Raceway today (Sunday, 5.30pm).
It’s the second year in succession that the two clubs have met in a major Final with the Scorpions having got the better of the Pirates to win the 2023 KO Cup, and the silverware is set to be resolved in Dorset on Wednesday.
For the first leg, the home side operate rider replacement for the injured Michael Palm Toft whilst the visitors bring in Charles Wright to guest for skipper Ben Cook who is out with concussion.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s fantastic that for the second season running we end our home campaign with the final of a major competition. It’s a chance for us to get something out of this season after all the hard work that has gone before.
“In terms of riding Poole, just throw everything away that’s gone before and start again, that’s my thought process on this, and I’m sure it’s the riders’ thought process too.
“We start afresh in Heat 1 of the first leg at the Eddie Wright Raceway, it’s a clean slate and the previous matches against Poole this season count for nothing.”
Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “We hope to have Ben back for the second leg, but he misses Sunday’s meeting.
“But besides Ben, we have his brother Zach who is equally impressive around Scunthorpe and with Richard (Lawson) and Tom Brennan spearheading our side then we will go there in a positive frame of mind and looking for a result, just as we did at the beginning of the month in the Cup.”
