The Australian Speedway Riders Association have introduced a new and exciting committee position to encourage young speedway riders, pit crew, supporters and bike enthusiasts to become ASRA members and help pro-actively support speedway’s past and present for future generations.
ASRA President Dave Mills explains: “Three time Australian Under 21 and twice World Under 21 Champion Darcy Ward is now our Youth Ambassador. Darcy was the ideal person for this position. He is totally committed to the expansion and growth of Australian speedway through his new venture ‘Darcy Ward Speedway Promotions’, staging year round junior and senior speedway events at North Brisbane Speedway”
“I am looking forward to working with the ASRA to drive membership numbers, help the association boost awareness and progress the sport throughout Australia.
This country has a proud speedway history…six World Speedway Champions have won nine championships dating back to 1936.
We need to find new speedway stars to follow in the footsteps of Chris Holder and Jason Doyle,” Ward said.
For a small annual membership fee of $25, the ASRA provides a regular newsletter, Facebook page and website which collectively keeps members up to date with historic, current and future events including domestic, UK and European results, rider profiles, a solo and sidecar photo gallery, memory lane stories, welfare updates and much more.
The association also supports display days like the Maitland Centenary, featuring restored bikes, memorabilia and an opportunity to meet the stars of today and yesteryear.
