WINGLESS SPRINTS’ STRONG LISMORE COMMITMENT
WINGLESS SPRINTS’ STRONG LISMORE 21-22 SEASON COMMITMENT
By Dennis Newlyn
WINGLESS Sprintcar racing will be featured prominently throughout the upcoming 2021-22 season at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.
The section is scheduled to compete at 16 meetings in a full season commitment starting on opening night, November 6, when the annual V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor’s Cup will commence the new season.
The busiest times for the Wingless will be January and April. January has four nights scheduled, while April has five race dates with consecutive weekends featuring back-to-back nights to round out the Wingless Lismore season schedule.
The class is known for hosting long distances races and that will not change next season with 40 and 50 lappers pencilled on the schedule. The Northern Rivers Wingless Sprints have become a mainstay of the Lismore racing scene for many years and numbers in their ranks again look promising for next season.
“The Wingless always provide close and exciting action and I am sure that’s what we will get once again next season,” promoter Dave Lander said.
“The cars look good on the track and there is some very good equipment in the division. When the numbers are high for their major shows it will always be a good night for the fans.”
The Wingless will be the major support for the planned World Series Sprintcars fixture on January 12, while Wingless Sprintcars also will be programmed regularly with the V8 Dirt Modifieds during the season.
These nights include the opening round of the annual Mr Modified Series on Boxing Night, the final and concluding round (January 8) as well as the Easter back-to-back nights featuring the V8 Dirt Modified Nationals (April 16 and 17).
Wingless Lismore season schedule: November 6 – 20; December 4 – 26; January 8 – 12 – 15 -22; February 5 – 19; March 19; April 2 – 16 – 17 – 23 – 24.
