(SPEEDWAY 1)

POOLE are five points clear at the top of the Championship after a 57-33 win over Birmingham at Wimborne Road.
Home skipper Danny King scored a 15-point maximum against his old club, whilst Steve Worrall added 12 in a powerful Pirates display. Erik Riss top-scored for the Brummies with 9.

King and his colleagues also praised the Poole track staff for their work in completing emergency repairs to the circuit after a hole appeared on the circuit in the early stages of the meeting.
Said King: “I took a few meetings this season to get dialled in, but I am happy with the way things are going right now. I feel really confident on the starts and that makes a difference.
“I would just like to offer up a big shout out to the track staff, and they deserve a pat on the back for all their hard work.”

(SPEEDWAY 2)

REDCAR salvaged a 45-45 draw at home to Berwick with a dramatic 5-1 in the last race.
Youngster Leon Flint looked set to secure an away win for the visitors but he fell on the final turn of Heat 15 when he looked set for second place, enabling Charles Wright and Michael Palm Toft to seal a crucial maximum for the Bears.

Palm Toft completed a paid maximum with 14+1 from five rides, with Wright matching that total from six outings. In-form reserve Kasper Andersen racked up 14 from six for the Bandits.

Palm Toft said: “I think we were slightly unlucky as we had a couple of tapes exclusions which cost us overall. We also have a couple of new signings who will need time to settle in at home, but it is what it is and when they settle in, we will have a solid side.
“I would have liked a full maximum, but it is always nice to hit a maximum!”

Berwick boss Gary Flint said: “We deserved the win today as that was a real effort to hold the second in the league side, at their own track, back to that extent.
“But Leon’s furious and frustrated with that last bend fall; however, that’s how speedway rolls at times. At least we didn’t lose!”

(SPEEDWAY 3)

KENT and Birmingham both look to make ground on the Championship’s top six when they meet at Central Park today..
Both sides have displayed improved form recently and are not out of range of the play-off places.
Recent signing Troy Batchelor has been impressive for the Kings whilst Brummies duo James Shanes and Jack Thomas race against their former club.

LEICESTER youngster Ben Trigger is looking to strengthen his bid to become British Youth Champion on home shale today.
The club are hosting the fifth round of the series with Trigger, a member of the club’s National Development League side, aiming to follow in the footsteps of team-mate Dan Thompson to take gold at 500cc class
And in the 250cc category Max James, who regularly does laps at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena as mascot, leads the way.

There are a total of 27 riders competing across three classes, and both Trigger and Luke Harrison (250cc) look set to clinch their respective titles, whilst Stene Pijper could secure 125cc honours.
British Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “It would be fantastic for Leicester asset Ben Trigger to win his first British Championship in front of his home supporters, and I hope the Leicester public come out in numbers to support him. 

“For Ben to be crowned British Champion he will need to qualify for the Final this afternoon, and a fourth-place finish in the Final will be enough for him – although I know Ben will not settle for fourth and will be determined to continue his rich vein of form and win in front of his home fans.

“In the 250cc class Luke has yet to drop a point in this year’s series and due to the results of the other competitors all he needs to do this afternoon to claim his second title is a sixth-place finish – but like Ben he will be determined to continue winning each of this year’s rounds.

“In the 125cc class Stene Pijper, who is yet to finish outside of a top two finish in the previous four rounds, will need to again finish in at least second place today and depending on other results he will know if that will be enough to claim this year’s British Championship.”
