ON THIS DAY: WE REMEMBER BOB TATTERSALL
Robert George Tattersall – born July 27, 1924, Pennsbury Village, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania – took his last breath, when he succumbed to cancer, in his home town of Streator, (La Salle County), Illinois – on October 27, 1971.
Fifty years on, it seems like only yesterday the greatest American Speedcar import into Australian speedway, Bob Tattersall, died.
Bob always did things to perfection, so it comes as no surprise that today, Wednesday, October 27, 2021 represents exactly the same day (Wednesday) on the1971 calendar he died.
Those of us old enough who lived through the Tattersall years in Australia will always have fond memories of this great man whose track deeds in both Australia and America are legendary.
Obvious career highlight was his victory in the 1969 United States Auto Club (USAC) National Midget Championship.
Watch out for a special tribute, featuring many photos highlighting his great career, which will appear on this website in memory of Bob Tattersall and the 50th anniversary of his passing.
