Jacob Jolley emerged unbeaten in main event competition when he took out twin 25 lap Wingless Sprintcar feature races at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway, Saturday night, November 6.
The opening meeting of the 2021-2022 season attracted an impressive crowd and it was Jolley who stole the show with consistent performances in both features. The top three in the two races were the same as Mark Blyton filled the runner-up spot and Mason Cattell took third.
Jolley, who started from an upfront position in both events, hit the mark with very little difference in his lap speed average and time against the clock in both victories. His initial main event win was recorded with a 99.017 km/h average, while he stopped the timing clock at 14.543 seconds for his best lap. In the second feature race his speed was a little better with a fastest lap posted at 99.606 km/h and a best lap time of 14.457 seconds.
“We are very happy tonight with the result and the consistency the car showed,” a jubilant Jolley said in victory lane following his second win.
The only time he was beaten occurred in a heat when he was runner-up to Cattell.
In both features the final top three were clearly a cut above the rest, though there were some close tussles in the early stages. Blayton, who stayed with Jolley for a while in the second 25 lapper, drove well after he got around Cattell but there was no stopping Jolley.
Other heats were won by David Eggins and Michael Butcher.
RANDALL ALSO STARS
Mitch Randall also enjoyed a successful night in V8 Dirt Modifieds and emerged unbeaten after wins in the feature, heats and dash.
Randall led Jay Davey and Tony Dunn to the finish line in the 25-lap main event, however it was not his best speed average for the night. His quickest lap time and speed was recorded after he took out the six lap dash with a speed of 104.682 km/h with and cut a 13.756 seconds lap.
Randall was in excellent form and on this performance, he will certainly be one of the drivers to beat in the V8 Dirt Modified ranks this season.
Other main event victories were recorded by Tony Blanch (AMCAs), Jacob Waller (Junior Sedans), Aaron Hall (Production Sedans) and Steve Hall (Street Stocks).
After a successful start to the 2021-22 campaign, attention now turns to the next meeting at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway – November 20 – when 410 Sprintcar racing will be the top attraction.
