RUSTY WINS BRAGGING RIGHTS
Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway crowd were treated to an epic final at the first round of the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Series.
Defending series champ Rusty Hickman and Brenten Farrer duelled it out lap after lap for the 30 lap main. The pair lined up on the front row together with Hickman taking the lead with Farrer hot on his tail. Farrer wasn’t giving in and passed Hickman a few times only to have Hickman quickly fight back and take the lead again. At half race distance lapped cars came into play but the two lead cars never faulted steering high and low trough traffic. Lapping the
field up to seventh placing, Hickman took the chequered flag only 1.080 seconds ahead of Farrer. Whilst the two lead cars were dicing it out another race was happening between Charles Hunter (V#73), Jordan Charge (V#60), Todd Moule (D#26), Brad Warren (VA#9), Matt Reed (D#7) and Paul Solomon (V#7). At the
finish Reed had worked his way up to third, Hunter finished fourth while Moule rounded out the top five.
Charge unfortunately withdrew after 18 laps with mechanical issues. Reds were bought out on lap nine by Dan Scott (VA#91) after his car finished upside down in turn one.
Brett Smith (V#39) dropped a heat and started in 19th in the main event. He moved up ten places to win the TEH Hard Charger Award. With a strong field of
21 cars, everyone had their own personal goal for opening night and after waiting for 8 months
finally got to test them out. New war paint, new numbers and new drivers all shone on the opening night.
“What an A Main, the speed of the front runners was just awesome to watch. They must have had nothing left in the bank by the end of it. I was pretty nervous at the start of the night being our first show for eight months and wanting our team to put on a great show but didn’t have to worry, our guys
gave it 110% and the crowd would have gone away pumped. I am so proud of all our All Stars, the regulars and the new rookies; they all drove with their heads all night. It was a credit to all 21 cars,” All Stars operator Mandy Searle said.
