PITCHER’S FLAG-T0-FLAG WIN

Bannockburn teenager Jacob Pitcher secured his maiden Super Rod feature victory when the Super Rods came to Laang Speedway.
With Laang Speedway debuting their new sand surface having made the most of the pandemic to resurface the track, Pitcher led the race in its entirety to take the win ahead of current Victorian champion Neville Gange of Colac and Hamilton’s Dane Court.
In the first heat of the night, it was a flag to flag win for Court who took the victory ahead of Jamie May and George Woolstencroft. Pitcher claimed an all the way win in heat two leading home Gange with Stan Marco Jnr rounding out the top three.
Heat three went the way of Marco ahead of Peter Duynhoven and rookie competitor Bob Wilson home third. The final heat saw Gange the victor with Pitcher and Court filling the final positions.
The line up for the final saw Gange and Pitcher making up the front row, followed by Court, Marco, Duynhoven, May, Woolstencroft, Wilson, Luke Cole, Megan Payne, and Jamie Ackland rounding out the field.
From the drop of the green, it was Pitcher who seized the lead with Gange and Court in hot pursuit, in a 15 lap non stop final Pitcher was able to hold his nerve to his more experienced rivals continuing on to greet the chequered first ahead of Gange and Court rounding out the top three, they were followed by Marco, May, Duynhoven, Woolstencroft, Cole, Wilson and Payne.
The next meeting for Super Rods will be at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on January 8, 2022.
