PETERBOROUGH No.1 Michael Palm Toft is bang on target for the new season after his agonising finger injuries healed.
Danish racer Palm Toft rode through the pain barrier after a semi-final crash at Wolverhampton last autumn to help the team to the Premiership title in spectacular style, and he will be back with the Panthers for their defence this year.

He said: “The fingers have healed up now, I’m almost there. It’s taken a long time, but just about a month ago I started using my index finger properly again, so all is more or less back to normal apart from my little finger which is a little bit bigger than it used to be.

“I spent the first bit of the off-season resting my fingers, I felt I had to do that.
“I bought a motocross bike and I’ve been riding that to keep bike-fit. Other than that, I just spent time with family and sorting things out for speedway.”

STEFAN Nielsen has vowed to build on the impressive start he made to his Sheffield career.
Nielsen only managed four appearances for the Tigers in 2021 before he suffered serious injuries in a Championship match at Birmingham – who, ironically, he has joined at that level this season.

He said: “I absolutely do feel like I can build on last year. My form was solid, I believe last year I averaged pretty well in both leagues in the meetings I did in 2021 alone.

“But because of the rolling average system that we run in the British leagues, I would say I have a lovely little average to come in on and hopefully increase significantly!
“I only had a short spell with Sheffield, but it’s great to be back and I want to show the Tigers fans what I can really do.”
