After a month-long hiatus since Lockie McHugh stood atop the podium at the 49th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, racing is set to return with a flurry of events at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool.
Two nights of action on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26 will kick things off as a Non-Points Round of the SRA of Victoria’s C&H Trucking Sprintcars Limited Series featuring 360 and LS Crate Engine powered Sprintcars along with Late Models and The Junior Sedan Yeoman Williams Memorial.
Gates will open at 4pm on Friday night with cars on track a little later than usual at 5.45pm to try and accommodate those that may have to work or travel.
Saturday night sees the return of 410 Sprintcar action with Round 9 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series along with an action packed program of Late Models, Speedcars and Street Stocks. The Sprintcars will also be chasing points in the $10,000.00 to win Total Tools Warrnambool Track Championship.
With tyre issues still impacting the sport across multiple racing divisions, the Premier Speedway Club has extended invitations to additional divisions over the next couple of meetings to ensure our loyal race fans receive bang for their entertainment buck!
This goes hand in hand with the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria opting for one heat formats after consultation with the tracks and tyre suppliers.
On Saturday, February 26, the public gates will again open at 4.00pm with Sprintcar Engine Starts to commence at 5.00pm.
Friday, March 4, will again see the Eureka Sprintcar Series in action as Rounds 10 which doubles as Round 7 of the Total Tools Warrnambool Track Championship, hit the track. This will form two back-to-back nights of Sprintcar action with Avalon set to play host to the Great Southern Showdown the next night.
The time-honoured Jack Willsher Cup and Junior Formula 500s will also feature on the Friday March 4 program with public gate opening at 4pm and cars again on track with a later Friday night start time of 6.00pm. All of the action is presented by 3YBFM and Coast FM.
The season will then be rounded out with meetings on Saturday, March 19, 2022, Saturday, April 2, 2022 and Sunday, April 17, 2022. These events will consist of:
