SPEEDWAYS COP TORRENTIAL RAIN POUNDING

The torrential rain and flooding in Brisbane and south-east Queensland has not spared anyone and has created so much heartache for so many people.

Nothing has been excluded from the terrible carnage with days of torrential rain. Many houses have been lost, many people are doing it very tough in what represents flooding at the same – or worse – than the 1974 and 2011 Brisbane floods.  Our thoughts are with the Brisbane, south-east Queensland and NSW Northern Rivers people at this terrible time.

Sporting arenas – and their scheduling – have been thrown into chaos with grounds underwater.

Queensland’s premier National Rugby League (NRL) venue, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, is an inland lake, while Archerfield Speedway (pictured) did not fare any better.

This photo says it all and is worth a thousand words – a thousands sad words at that!  Photo, taken Tuesday, March 1, shows the extent of flooding the Archerfield track copped.

Lismore’s Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway, in northern New South Wales,  has not been spared either and also is completely underwater – up to the second floor of the Lismore Automobile Club building! 

That represents a record level for the ground. 

Much of the speedway equipment and catering shop areas at the Lismore Showground also have been seriously damaged by flood waters.

Meanwhile, the Mark Robinson V8 Dirt Modified race team had their Lismore workshop completely destroyed which included race car, spares, and equipment.
