PETERBOROUGH skipper Scott Nicholls is preparing for his first laps since winter surgery.
Nicholls, who led the Panthers to the 2021 Premiership title and will also be heading up Oxford’s Championship return this year, has received positive news from his physio after work to correct a shoulder problem.

He said: “I had another appointment with my physio last week, and he’s really pleased with the progress.
“The shoulder feels great, and the training is being stepped up. I’m not worried that my fitness isn’t quite where it should be as I have a few weeks yet to be where I want to be.

“I had been asked to go to Macon in France for my first skid but had a few things going on and couldn’t make it.
“I’m looking at getting back on a bike in the next couple of weeks, so that’s something I’m looking forward to.”

RETURNING Leicester star Richie Worrall is keen to make up for the disappointment of missing out on the 2019 Championship Grand Final.
The Lions won the league title after a fierce battle with Glasgow, but Worrall was unable to take his place after his season was curtailed by a crash at Poole in late-June.

He said: “It was great for Leicester to win the league, but it still frustrates me when I look back and recall how I missed the Final.
“My season was cut short and it was frustrating not to be able to help in the Final, so that’s something I want to put right this year.
“I want to win the title with Leicester, and I want the Leicester fans to see the best of Richie Worrall this year.”

RYAN Douglas has been added to the line-up for the Ben Fund Bonanza at Peterborough on March 27.
The Australian star, who will race for Wolverhampton and Scunthorpe this season, has a proven record of success at the East of England Arena with several impressive scores.

Douglas said: “It’s a great meeting to be a part of, and so important for all the people who need the help and support of the fund.
“We all know it’s a dangerous sport and injuries play a huge part, so any help the riders can get when injured is always a big help.
“The Ben Fund does such a great job, and it was a pleasure to be asked to do this meeting. Peterborough is one of my favourite tracks so hopefully I can have a good meeting, but the most important thing is for a great turn-out and we raise money.”
