FOX SPORTS AUSTRALIA TAKES 2022 SPEEDWAY GP COVERAGE
Speedway fans in Australia can enjoy a huge season of FIM Speedway Grand Prix action live on Fox Sports throughout 2022.
Fox Sports will remain the home of FIM Speedway after a sub-licensing agreement was reached with new global promoter Discovery Sports Events, which will see every round broadcast live on linear channels this season.
Speedway was born in Australia nearly 100 years ago and the sport continues to captivate a loyal fanbase a century on.
With 2017 world champion Jason Doyle and Australian champion Max Fricke joined by Speedway GP newcomer Jack Holder in the 2022 line-up, there is plenty of Aussie interest in this season’s series.
And with Discovery Sports Events still working on plans to conclude the 2022 Speedway GP World Championship in Australia, this is a season not to be missed.
François Ribeiro, Head of Discovery Sports Events, said: “I am delighted to confirm the racing will remain on Fox Sports for 2022 and it’s a pleasure to join forces with them in bringing coverage to one of our most passionate speedway nations.
“Australia may not have its own speedway league, but the sport has an incredibly dedicated fanbase and it’s great news that they can continue to enjoy Speedway GP coverage – especially with three of their riders now competing in the championship.
“We look forward to bringing a Speedway GP round to Australia – hopefully at the end of this season, if not in 2023. But for now, I hope our Aussie fans will enjoy the European rounds live on Fox Sports.”
The 2022 FIM Speedway season, the first of ten seasons under new global promoter Discovery Sports Events, begins on April 30 with the FIM Speedway GP of Croatia – Donji Kraljevec.
