GERMAN RACER HUCKENBECK HANDED TETEROW CALL-UP
German international Kai Huckenbeck will represent his country in the nation’s biggest speedway event after being named as wild card for the FIM Speedway GP of Germany at Teterow on June 4.
Huckenbeck lines up in the famous number16 race jacket for what will be his fourth Speedway GP appearance at the Bergring Arena.
He has emerged as one of his country’s international stars in recent years and scored a huge 22 points from a possible 24 at FIM Speedway of Nations Semi-Final 2 in Daugavpils, Latvia last September, as well as winning the Final Qualifier heat.
His last Speedway GP outing came at the 2019 FIM German Speedway GP, when he served as a track reserve, replacing fellow countryman Martin Smolinski for his final ride. He also served as wild card in the 2017 and 2018 Teterow events, scoring four points on his debut and two the following year.
Huckenbeck has a busy league schedule across Europe, racing for the Landshut Devils – a German team that was promoted to Poland’s First Division last year. He also rides for Rospiggarna in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien and Vojens team Sønderjylland Elite Speedway in Denmark.
He is joined in Teterow by track reserves Norick Blodorn and Lukas Baumann, who line up at number 17 and number 18 respectively. They will compete if any of the main 16 stars are forced out of a race due to injury, illness, a starting offence or other reasons.
