JSRA announce Jo Anne McCann 50th season Patron
The Junior Sedan Racing Association of Western Australia have endorsed life member Jo Anne McCann Club Patron in its fiftieth season. It was a unanimous vote by the JSRA committee.
The JSRA committee said in a prepared statement: “We are delighted Jo has accepted the position.
“Jo has been a prominent member of the club since coming to WA with her family from Sydney in 1994.
“At that time it was called, WA Junior Saloon Car Federation which she got her children involved. In 1998 the club was renamed to bring metro and regional clubs under the one banner as the Junior Sedan Racing Association of Western Australia (JSRA).
“Jo Anne was instrumental in drawing up that new constitution at that time and recently revised it again for us in 2021. In 1995 Jo was responsible for having the junior minimum age lowered from 12 to 10.
“She became a life member in 2002. She’s held positions in the club as secretary, lap scorer, was a Junior Advocate for the Speedway Commission, chief steward, did various courses with Department of Sport and Recreation, Sprintcar points advisor, secretary for the Sprintcar Entrants Group, secretary for the Wingless Sprints Association , junior driver parent and a mother.
Jo has recently been working in the background helping the new committee amend the constitution and also helping to attract life members back to the club for our 50th season.
“She has been there constantly guiding us through this new era as it gathers incredible momentum to take on the next 50 years.”
