A STEP UP FOR IPSWICH
IPSWICH promoter Chris Louis is urging his side to step things up at Foxhall when they return home in the Premiership play-offs.
The Witches remain top of the table after Thursday’s narrow 46-44 victory over bottom club Peterborough, who once again forced a last-heat decider in Suffolk.
Louis said: “It was a very unconvincing win. Track conditions were not what we have had most of the year, it was quite heavy after rain – but at the end of the day, we are heading towards winter and October, and that is how tracks get.
“We need to be better than we were, but once again we did enough to grab all three points. We will have to better than that come September 29 whoever the opposition is.
“You have only got to look at the league table and all four teams are very evenly matched, so it won’t be an easy meeting whoever you meet, so we will need to improve for sure.”

OXFORD will refund all ticket holders from last Wednesday’s postponed NDL match against Kent – and also still honour those tickets when the meeting is re-staged.
The Cowley clash was called off around two hours before start time due to issues with medical cover.
Promoter Jamie Courtney said: “All options were explored to ensure the meeting could go ahead after the club was notified no medical cover would be provided.
“As promoter I am truly sorry we could not find an alternative arrangement in the time we had and apologise for the inconvenience this caused.
“We want Oxford Speedway to be a long-term success and appreciate the support we have received through the season, particularly in such challenging and uncertain times for many families.
“We hope our offer to refund tickets and make them valid for the fixture’s restaging can help us conclude what has been a mostly memorable campaign on a high.”
