POOLE AND GLASGOW READY FOR ACTION
POOLE and Glasgow make a second attempt at their Championship play-off semi-final with the opener now taking place at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday – UK time). Sunday’s original first leg at Ashfield was abandoned after five races with the result not standing, and the tie will now be concluded back in Scotland this Saturday.
The clubs had contrasting views over the call-off, and both declare unchanged line-ups tonight with Paul Starke continuing as a guest at reserve for the Tigers. Poole co-promoter Danny Ford said: “If the lads needed any further winding up for Wednesday, then Glasgow served it to us on Sunday.
“We are adamant that we could have got that meeting through, but they weren’t too keen. We were more than willing to hold the meeting back a bit if they wanted to do some extra track grading. “But it is what it is, and we now go into Wednesday with a chance to build a decent advantage to have behind us when we go there again this Saturday.
“I think we showed against Leicester last week just what our team is capable of, and I have been shouting about that all season.” Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “Wednesday night is going to be difficult – Poole are going to be fired up for it, so we need to make sure our guys are fired up too.”

IPSWICH boss Ritchie Hawkins says his side head into the Premiership play-offs in good shape as they prepare to face Belle Vue on Thursday.
The Witches have often been run close at Foxhall this season and Hawkins admits a home win is required in order to take a lead into the second leg of the semi-final in Manchester on Monday. He said: “We are ready for the play-offs now and our whole season has been geared towards these four meetings. Every decision made has been with an eye on these meetings, this is what it is all about.
“The season starts fresh in the play-offs; our home form has been inconsistent at best, and we need everyone to click now.
“Belle Vue have been in great form at home, so we are looking to win the meeting and build as big a lead as possible. Whatever happens, over two legs I think we can beat anyone in this league.”

BERWICK have set the date of October 8 for the home leg of their NDL play-off semi-final – with their opponents still to be decided! The Bullets visit Leicester on Saturday in a meeting which should resolve the issue of who tops the table, with the top four overall also set to be finalised this weekend as Belle Vue travel to Armadale on Friday.
Berwick boss Gary Flint said: “It is still all to play, for but what we do know is that whoever the opposition, we plan to stage the first leg of the semi-final a week on Saturday.
“I know the boys are desperate to get back on track after what seems like an age waiting for the line-up to be decided.”
