EUREKA GARAGES & SHEDS SPRINTCAR SERIES HAS ANOTHER WASHOUT
by SRA Media
This Friday night’s round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series has been rained out following an inspection by the Avalon Raceway management team.
It’s the second time a round has been called following Premier Speedway’s cancellation of the November 5 race meeting.
“While it’s extremely disappointing to lose another round of the series this early in the season, I completely understand the decision when you see just how much water is covering Avalon Raceway and the surrounds today,” Sprintcar Racing Association President Ian Vale said.
The SRA President was however quick to confirm that the SRA and Avalon Raceway would seriously consider another date that suits to rerun this Friday night’s event.
“It’s not out of the question that we can look at rescheduling this round at Avalon Raceway later in the year but that will be confirmed in due course,” said Ian
The excitement around Friday night’s event at Avalon Raceway was justified considering more than 50 Sprintcars had nominated at the time of the cancellation however today’s announcement only effects Avalon Raceway Friday night, not Premier Speedway’s Victorian Sprintcar title set for decision Saturday night.
“I want to make it clear that Warrnambool is still planning to race Saturday night, their management today confirmed they have not received the amount of rain that Geelong did and they will do everything they can to complete the race meeting Saturday night,” confirmed Ian.
The SRA would like to thank everyone for their patience from the venue operators, the Sprintcar drivers and their teams, the SRA partners and, of course, the fans in these trying times.
The series now looks forward to round three to be conducted at Wangaratta Speedway on Saturday December 3, 2022 where Tasmanian journeyman Tim Hutchins was the corresponding round winner last season.
