ELLIS RIDES AGAIN FOR SHEFFIELD
FORMER British Champion Adam Ellis will race for Sheffield once again in 2023.
It will be a third straight season with the Owlerton outfit for Ellis, who has played a key part in the Tigers achieving a play-off finish in both of their Premiership campaigns so far, as well as winning the national title last year.
Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “When we signed Adam back in 2021 we always thought he’d be here for a while if everything went to plan. “He was absolutely fantastic for us in his first season and even though a few things didn’t go his way this year, he was still regularly among the big points.
“Adam is a proven heat-leader in the Premiership now and he’ll chip in with plenty of points once again in 2023, I’m sure.”

POOLE have announced the return of Steve Worrall for 2023 – and the 31-year-old will also assume the club captaincy.
Worrall takes over the role from Danny King, who led the Pirates to extensive success in the last two seasons but has now joined Redcar.
Said Worrall: “I am really happy to be back with the Pirates for a third season and really honoured to be invited to be team captain. I know I have big boots to fill following in Danny’s footsteps after all he was able to lead the team to.
“It’s a role that I believe won’t come unnatural to me and added to that, I have picked up a couple of things whilst being around Danny for the past two seasons.
“I am looking forward to pulling that race suit on again and get out there and represent the Pirates in every race. I feel it is a real honour and like I said, am really looking forward to getting together with the lads and getting the ball rolling for the new season.” Pirates promoter Dan Ford also announced Worrall’s Testimonial meeting will be staged at Wimborne Road on a date to be confirmed next year.

SCUNTHORPE have named heat-leader Jake Allen as their sixth confirmed signing for the 2023 Championship campaign.
Allen returned to the Eddie Wright Raceway this year after a season at Redcar, although his campaign was affected by injury – and promoter Rob Godfrey has high hopes he will be back to top form.
Godfrey said: “I’m convinced Jake is going to have an amazing year in 2023. He’s pumped up for it and everything is dropping into place for him. He knows how to do it, and he is going to do it, simple as.
“I think he needs to be riding more, which is what he lacked last year. Now that he’s got a team place at Leicester in the Premiership, that’s going to make a world of difference to him.
“All the Scunthorpe fans know how good Jake can be, he and Josh Auty shared the No.1 spot in 2019. Jake is still only a young man – we didn’t see the best of him in 2022, but I’m convinced we will in 2023.”

WORKINGTON have signed Elliot Kelly who becomes the third rider confirmed for their return to the sport in the NDL at Northside. Kelly had been expected to line up for Mildenhall this year but sat out the start of the campaign before completing the season with Armadale, and he will now join Luke Harrison at reserve for the Comets.
Said Kelly: “Northside holds a special place in my heart as I learned to ride my bike on the training track nearly eight years ago now.
“I’m looking forward to showing everybody how far I’ve come since then.
“With a cracking team who have put thousands of hours into building a whole new track and stadium from next to nothing, I’ve got nothing but high hopes for the upcoming season.
“I can’t wait to get out there on a brand-new track and really push myself on as far as I can.”
