SALLER MOTORSPORT CANCEL 2023 REUTZEL CAMPAIGN
Official Release
January 10, 2023
Despite the best efforts of numerous parties, Saller Motorsport are unfortunately at a two week hiatus regarding a visa issued for American Sprintcar driver Aaron Reutzel and his 2023 Australian campaign.
This is an extremely disappointing situation for numerous parties due to the commitment and lengths Saller Motorsport went to arranging this agreement which included backing from Toyota Racing Development. Also, not to mention the support from local tracks and Australian fans who all wanted to see the USA #56 roll into the pits at a track near them this Australian summer.
The Australian Visa entry programme is simple and designed to ensure travellers to Australia do not work and the intention of their stay is for holiday purposes.
Like many other teams, Saller Motorsport bring out international drivers for the good of the sport.
Not for money making intentions. The drivers are not on a wage or salary.
These American drivers leave their families for four weeks, travel across Australia supporting local race meetings with a possibility of not even covering their stay expenses.
For decades numerous international drivers have visited Australia and attended major race meetings across the country with no issues. This can only poise the question to why and who possibly informed or allegedly questioned authorities on the eligibility of an Australian Visa.
Typically when it appears home affairs have inside information regarding the status of a Visa application, they are sent for further assessment in which can exceed 80 days.
Saller Motorsport will head north today with the N56 to compete at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway over the weekend. Following this commitment, the team will resume racing in February.
