AUSSIE DOYLE CREATES HISTORY
JASON Doyle made history by becoming the first-ever four-time winner of Belle Vue’s flagship Peter Craven Memorial meeting.
The former World Champion stormed to victory in the six-rider Grand Final ahead of former and current Aces riders Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley, who completed the podium trio.
Home skipper Brady Kurtz had led the qualifying scores to go straight into the Final but had to be content with fourth place in that race ahead of Charles Wright and Niels-Kristian Iversen.
Doyle said: “This was an amazing night for myself, and to go down in history as having won this very special meeting four times is something that will always be close to my heart. “Sometimes I can come to Belle Vue and be amazing, other times I come here and get smoked. This track especially can make you feel very vulnerable if you don’t have speed.
“But tonight, I felt pretty good. I made a lot of changes over the winter, which is why I went back to Australia. I sold all my old stuff and basically bought all brand new for this season.
“Once I had the set-up, I felt confident. You really must savour moments like this because you never know what the next meeting will bring, but right now it is an amazing feeling.”

WOLVERHAMPTON skipper Sam Masters and guest Scott Nicholls both scored paid maximums in a thumping 56-34 opening win over King’s Lynn.
The Monmore side made the perfect start to their Premiership campaign with Masters unbeaten from five rides, and combining for three 5-1s with his regular race partner Steve Worrall.
Meanwhile Nicholls proved the perfect guest for injured Luke Becker as he finished with 11+1 from four rides, and Worrall picked up 10+2.
The Stars had a tough night although reserve Frederik Jakobsen impressed with 13+2 as he took his full quota of rides, and Michael Palm Toft also battled hard for nine.
Masters said: “It was awesome from the boys. You can’t underestimate King’s Lynn; they’ve got some good riders in their team and I don’t think they were bad, we were just really good.
“Scotty was so good last weekend at my Testimonial and it was a no-brainer to put him in, and it showed.
“What an awesome guy to have in the team, and what an awesome rider to have around Wolverhampton too.”
Lynn boss Alex Brady said: “Obviously it’s disappointing to come away with such a heavy defeat, although Wolves is a place where traditionally we struggle, and tonight was no exception.
“Fred was fantastic and Tofty came to the party a bit later on, but we didn’t have enough points from our top order, and there were a few mechanical gremlins for KK (Krzysztof Kasprzak).
“We were beaten by the better team on the night, and hopefully we can put it right when we entertain Wolves next week because the aggregate bonus point is still to play for.”

PLYMOUTH’S Paul Starke celebrates his Testimonial meeting at the Coliseum tonight (Tuesday).
The 32-year-old started his career with Buxton in 2007 and also had a previous stint with the Devon club in 2008-09.
He has been involved in title wins at all three levels with Poole, Somerset and Dudley/Cradley, and teams representing those clubs are all involved in Tuesday’s event, the latter two as Select sides.
Starke said: “It’s a Four Team tournament so that will be good, and it’s local teams as well.
“I’m really excited about it, everything is getting into place and we’re ready for the day.”
