BRUMMIES ON THE RACK
BIRMINGHAM CEO Nigel Tolley admits the club’s supporters deserve more after a week of “unacceptable performances.”
The Brummies lost 61-29 in the KO Cup at Scunthorpe on Friday, one week after conceding 64 points at Glasgow in the Cab Direct Championship, whilst in between was a heavy home defeat against Oxford.
Tolley said: “There’s no defending the indefensible and while the majority of results this season have been way below expectation, the performances over the past week in particular have been unacceptable.
“When we took over this club as a consortium, we said we wanted to be as transparent with supporters as we possibly could so this is where we’re at.
“On Thursday, we called an emergency Directors meeting where we spent hours running through all sorts of different things and addressing different issues.
“It goes without saying that a shake-up is needed and that will be happening.
“There are a number of things we have read from supporters that we as Directors are not satisfied with ourselves and please be assured we are doing what we can behind the scenes to make sure we come to the right decisions with the best interests of the club at heart.”

STEVE Worrall will offer further support to homeless charity Routes to Roots Poole at his Testimonial meeting on Wednesday.
When the initial staging was postponed earlier in the season, Worrall donated the buffet food from the event, and there will now be a donation point set up at Wimborne Road for items of food, clothing and toiletries.
It’s set to be a huge night with former World Champion Artem Laguta making his first appearance at the Dorset venue, and former Belle Vue favourite Matej Zagar also involved.
Worrall said: “After the postponement of my original Testimonial date, I went to their HQ in Poole to donate the food from the night’s buffet, and I must say it left a big impression on me.
“It really got me thinking about if there was anything further I could do to help this amazing charity and the thought struck.
“I asked the guys if there was anything they were struggling with, donations wise, and there are a few bits and pieces they could use a little extra help with.
“I honestly can’t explain the impact that just one visit had on me, to see so many vulnerable people who need help and how happy that buffet made them.”

MILDENHALL skipper Lee Complin scored 15-point maximum to inspire the Fen Tigers to a 46-43 victory at Berwick.
The Fen Tigers went back to the top of the NDL table with all three points from the meeting, as Complin combined with Alfie Bowtell (12+2) for 5-1s in Heats 13 and 15.
Connor Coles scored 11 for the Bullets with reserve Mason Watson adding 9+3, but for the second week running they were frustrated in the closing stages.
Berwick boss Kevin Little said: “Once again we are left feeling a little hard done to by the final result of a meeting which could so easily have gone our way.
“We’ve had virtually no luck this season, and what we have had had been bad.
“Having said that, Lee Complin had an incredible night and I don’t think we could have stopped him if we had put four riders out in Heat 15!”

WORKINGTON No.1 Connor Bailey collected a paid maximum in the Comets’ 50-39 win over defending NDL champions Leicester.
Bailey, with 14+1, was backed up by reserve Luke Harrison with 11+1 whilst Ace Pijper and Sam McGurk both scored nine.
But the Lion Cubs were quickly reduced to five riders with Ashton Boughen a non-starter and Tom Spencer suffering a suspected broken wrist in a Heat 3 crash. Max Perry top-scored for the visitors with 11.
Harrison said: “It was another great day with the boys. It got a bit tricky with the heat and having a few rides close together, but I managed to score some good points and we came away with a win, which is brilliant.”
Leicester boss Dave Howard said: “Overall our five riders put in an absolutely amazing effort, and it was a great performance from them.
“My feelings are that if we’d had all seven riders, and not have lost the two we did, we would have won the meeting.”
