SIDECAR LEGEND DARRIN TRELOAR IN QUEST OF CENTURIONS EVENT TROPHY
Eleven times Australian Speedway Sidecar Champion, Sydney’s, Darrin Treloar, says winning the Sidecar Centurions Trophy, at the upcoming Australian Speedway Centenary, is one of his team’s biggest priorities next season.
Treloar, the most successful speedway sidecar rider, worldwide, of all-time, will race in the December 28, centennial event, at North Brisbane Speedway, with multi title winning passenger, Blake Cox. The dynamic duo have enjoyed stunning success since teaming up in 2013.
“Blake and I are pumped about riding in the Australian Speedway Centenary,” Treloar enthused.
“Given this meeting represents a 100 year celebration of our sport, Blake and I both want to win it badly. It’s always exciting when a new major event is added to the calendar and to win this meeting will be a very special honour.
“The organisers are assembling a world class field (sidecars night one and solos night two) and race fans can expect fireworks on the track, at, what I have no doubt will be, the most professionally promoted and presented event of the 2023/24 season.
“All the top teams will be taking part and Blake and I will be giving it everything we’ve got,” Darrin concluded.
Darrin Treloar’s record at the top level of world speedway sidecar racing is phenomenal. His career, as a rider, has seen him win; 11 x Australian Championships (winning three with current passenger Blake Cox), 42 x State Championships, 1 x World Championship, 3 x Oceania Championships, 1 x FIM Gold Trophy and 2 x FIM World Cups.
After making his Australian Championship debut in 1986, Darrin Treloar has contested a total 30 x National Titles, having amassed an incredible 22 x top four finishes.
Event organisers are assembling arguably the best field of sidecar riders and passengers seen in Australian speedway for many years. More details announced in coming days.
The Australian Speedway Centenary is being staged at North Brisbane Speedway, on December 28 and 29, 2023 – featuring: the Sidecar Centurions on night one and the 500cc Solo Centurion on night 2.
