FORMER AUSSIE CHAMPION AND INTERNATIONAL STAR, ROHAN TUNGATE, TO APPEAR AT SPEEDWAY CENTENARY
Thirty-three year old, speedway solo international, Rohan Tungate, is the latest big name to be added to the field of super stars contesting night two of the Australian Speedway Centenary (Sidecars December 28 and Solos December 29) at North Brisbane Speedway.
The Kurri Kurri (NSW) born pro racer, who won the Australian Championship in 2018, made his British speedway debut in 2012, with the Ipswich Witches in Premier League competition, spending four seasons with the famous club.
In 2013, he also rode in the Poole Pirates team that won the Elite League. In 2015, he won the Premier League Pairs Championship, partnering Danny King, for the Ipswich Witches.
Rohan Tungate has extensive racing experience in Great Britain, Poland, Sweden and Denmark. He won the Slovakian Championship in 2016 and has been a two time South Australian titleholder and winner of the NSW Championship.
“I’ll be giving the Australian Speedway Centenary everything I’ve got,” the New South Welshman explained.
“Darcy Ward contacted me about riding and it took all of five seconds for me to commit to the meeting. The sport’s 100 year anniversary is a pretty big deal and it’s an honour to be included in the field for the Solo Centurion Trophy.
“It’ll be a very tough meeting but I’m confident of performing well at a racetrack I enjoy riding at. It’s a pretty fast place, North Brisbane, which suits me fine”.
Tungate joins Great Britain’s Triple World Champion, Tai Woffinden, Australia’s former World Champion, Chris Holder and emerging international star, Brisbane’s Ryan Douglas, as the riders announced, thus far, to contest the December 29, Solo Centurion Trophy at the Australian Speedway Centenary.
Further major riders signings will be announced in coming days.
